Title IX Intern / Staff Assistant

Job Description

This position is designed for a student with an interest in Title IX federal law and its implementation, social justice issues and awareness, and/or legal studies.

The roles and responsibilities include aspects of awareness programming, data assessment, strategic planning and building relationships/connections with external agencies (RIDOH, Day One, East Bay Regional Coalition, RI Cross Campus Collaborative for Violence Prevention).

The projects and assignments will build in responsibility, autonomy, and networking over the course of the three years.

There is flexibility to modify the experience to fit the student's interest, academic discipline and career goals.

There may be a need for the student to participate in academic reading / research to complete the various duties. Intentional conversations will take place to ground the experience in theory, research and lived practical experience.

Year 1
Responsibility/Function

  • Assist the Title IX Office with awareness programming on the topics of discrimination based on sex (which includes sexual harassment, dating/domestic violence, stalking, and pregnancy related conditions supports).
  • Cultivate campus partnerships with clubs, orgs, and various campus departments to co-sponsor programs and initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain a social media presence.
  • Participate as a member of the Student Title IX Task Force.
  • Participate as a member of the RI State Student Collaborative (RISC) as the Â鶹ɫÇ鯬 liaison.
  • Assist with Green Dot bystander intervention campus awareness.
  • Assist with Vector Solutions course preparation and customizations.

Year 2
Responsibility/Function

  • Assist the Title IX Office with awareness programming – including program development, promotion, and implementation.
  • Develop, grow and maintain a social media presence.
  • Co-Chair the Student Title IX Task Force.
  • Participate as a member of the RI State Student Collaborative (RISC) as the Â鶹ɫÇ鯬 liaison. Consider holding a leadership position.
  • Assist with Green Dot bystander intervention campus awareness, including workshop preparation.
  • Assist with promotion of Title IX campus climate study. Develop strategy for student participation.
  • Assist Title IX team with orientation training for new students.
  • Assist with Vector Solutions course preparation, customizations and data analysis.

Year 3
Responsibility/Function

  • Assist the Title IX Office with awareness programming – including program development, promotion, implementation and assessment.
  • Develop, grow and maintain a social media presence. Use analytics to assess views and contacts.
  • Chair the Student Title IX Task Force (with support from Title IX advisor).
  • Work with Title IX team to analyze Climate Study data and strategize programs and supports resulting from feedback.
  • Participate as a member of the RI State Student Collaborative (RISC) as the Â鶹ɫÇ鯬 liaison. Consider holding a leadership position.
  • Participate in at least one RI State Collaborative meeting (this is the group that oversees the student RISC group and would provide the intern with professional connections to various statewide agencies).
  • Assist with Green Dot bystander intervention campus awareness, including workshop preparation, and data collection/analysis.
  • Assist with promotion of the bi-annual Title IX campus climate study. Develop strategy for student participation based on experience from previous survey roll out.
  • Assist Title IX team in training efforts for faculty, staff and students.
  • Assist with Vector Solutions course preparation, customizations and data analysis. Assist in preparing data for grant proposals.

*Students are prohibited from driving during work-study employment with the limited exception of authorized work-study driver positions.
