Â鶹ɫÇéƬ Appoints Provost Andrew Workman as Interim President
While search for next university president will continue as planned, Â鶹ɫÇéƬ Board of Trustees names Workman to serve as interim president
BRISTOL, R.I. – The Â鶹ɫÇéƬ Board of Trustees has chosen Provost Andrew Workman to serve as interim president, filling the vacancy created by the death of President Donald J. Farish on July 5.
Workman joined Â鶹ɫÇéƬ in July 2012 as provost and senior vice president of Academic Affairs. He has served as a key member of the senior administrative team, overseeing all academic affairs responsibilities for the University for the past six years.
Prior to Â鶹ɫÇéƬ, Workman served 19 years at Mills College in Oakland, Calif., in a number of roles, including full-time faculty member, dean of social sciences, and vice provost for academic affairs. He holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and social theory from New College of Florida, and both master’s and doctoral degrees in history from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
The search for Â鶹ɫÇéƬ’s next president will continue as planned, following the same schedule that was anticipated when President Farish announced his plans to retire.
