Real-World Finance Training
Students majoring in Finance have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on training that prepares them to work as a financial analyst on Wall Street and other major financial centers across the globe. In the E. L. Wiegand Center for Advanced Financial Education (CAFE), a select group of students strategize and execute their own stock trades while managing four real-dollar portfolios in real time. The most recent addition to the funds under management in the CAFE is a portfolio focused on companies that emphasize ESG (environmental, social and governance) issues. Each semester, the students also travel to the New York Stock Exchange and to global financial markets, such as Hong Kong, Frankfurt, and Shanghai.
Powerful Combinations with Finance
Our programs in the fast-growing areas of Business Analytics, Risk Management, and Sports Studies can complement any Business major. The Business Analytics minor teaches you how to make effective decisions using data analysis and data visualization, while our three-course Certificate in Risk Management focuses on how organizations protect themselves from a variety of risk challenges, including cyberattacks, natural disasters, and terrorism. The interdisciplinary Sports Studies minor helps students across various majors become well-versed in the issues of the sports world and prepares them for careers in this exciting and diverse industry.

State-of-the-Art FacilitiesÂ
The Mario J. Gabelli School of Business is accredited by AACSB International, the world’s largest business education alliance. The designation guarantees we meet the highest standards, as only 5% of business schools worldwide have this elite accreditation.
In addition to the CAFE, the Robert F. Stoico/FIRSTFED Financial Services Center offers students the experience of working in a trading room with real-time data from financial markets around the world. Our center contains the most current technology available.
Our Bloomberg Technology Lab represents another example of Â鶹ɫÇéƬ’s commitment to using the latest technology in business education. The lab provides expanded access to terminals for analysis and Bloomberg certification training: the gold standard for jobs on Wall Street and in financial services more generally.

Michelle Desiata ’22
“The Center for Career and Professional Development was really beneficial for me. There are three platforms I want to highlight: Handshake, the Roger Connection, and LinkedIn — for finding Â鶹ɫÇ鯬 alumni. Getting to work in an accounting firm is very competitive. Having personal connections and a referral from an Â鶹ɫÇ鯬 alum gave me a leg up. I had two competitive offers ready for me to sign on before I finished Â鶹ɫÇ鯬."
