Provost Margaret Everett

Welcome Message from the Provost

Welcome to Â鶹ɫÇ鯬 â€” we are an academic community where curiosity meets purpose and every student is empowered to design their own path toward success.

At Â鶹ɫÇ鯬, our academic experience is built on powerful combinations of interdisciplinary learning, hands-on experiences, and personalized mentorship. Across our eight schools, students are challenged to think critically, act creatively, and apply their knowledge to real-world challenges in Rhode Island, New England, and beyond.

The three Academic Anchors of Marine Science and Innovation, the Designed and Built Environment, and Law, Society, and Justice ignite our academic vision and define the future of education at Â鶹ɫÇ鯬. A unique blending of liberal arts and humanities, professional studies, and business and entrepreneurship education supports them. Our students gain a holistic, career-connected learning experience through powerful combinations of majors and minors and through experiences they design along their path through Â鶹ɫÇ鯬.

Every Â鶹ɫÇ鯬 student gains required real-world experience through internships, research, study abroad, and community-engaged projects; oftentimes, acquiring multiple experiences before they graduate. And with a 96% post-graduation success rate, our alumni are thriving in their careers and graduate programs across the country.

As Provost, I invite you to explore the learning and research opportunities that make Â鶹ɫÇ鯬 a place where ideas flourish, connections thrive, and students build lives of meaning and impact.

Sincerely,

Margaret Everett, Ph.D.
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

University Leadership

Three Academic Anchors Guiding Our Future

Marine Science and Innovation

As a coastal university, our focus on the natural world places marine and coastal ecosystems as part of the Blue Economy. We are passionate about research and innovation within the biodiversity of marine ecosystems, understanding ocean dynamics, and exploring sustainable practices towards marine resource management. We prepare students to tackle pressing issues such as marine conservation, ocean acidification, and the impacts of climate change and pollution on coastal waters.

Designed and Built Environment

The study of the built environment encompasses architecture, urban planning, construction, engineering, sustainable practices, and real estate. Our students prepare to become leaders in designing and managing the built environments of tomorrow. Â鶹ɫÇ鯬 creates the changemakers the world needs – ones who will design resilient and inclusive urban and coastal landscapes, blending innovation with principles of environmental stewardship.

School of Law Students

Law, Society, and Justice

Our focus is on examining the intersection of legal frameworks, governance structures, and societal dynamics, particularly as they relate to coastal communities and the advancement of social and environmental justice. We explore issues such as human rights, social justice, public policy, and the rule of law that meet the demands of contemporary society while anticipating future needs.
